| Does anyone have experience dating a professional poker player? What
is the lifestyle of a professional poker player? Do people have
experiences they can share? I've been dating someone recently and he
has decided to quit te day job for poker, I just need to know what I'm
getting into....Thanks!

He didn't by any chance recently ask, "Hey, if my landlord calls your
number will you tell him I work for you?" did he? >> Stay informed about: Dating a professional poker player |

I don't know where you got the idea we were a "couple"....I never said
anything like that. And no, I'm not meeting your parents this weekend.
Just back off.

Tell your man to learn the following lines by heart as he will be using
them often with his friends, family, and fellow card players:
1. Can I borrow $xx?
2. You want to stake me, I will give you 1/2 my winnings?
3. I will pay you back, I promise, don't you trust me?
4. I'm a little short at the moment, but I will pay you back soon.

Have you asked him how big his bankroll is? Beyond a very deep
bankroll, he'll need at least a year of saving he won't touch in case
he needs time to look for a job again. Now, he's probably about to
walk the plank in life, but giving him the massive benefit of the
doubt that he can play, you still have to realize what his mentality
is going to be like once he does this for a living. He will become
extremely tight about any expenses outside of poker. That means he
won't want to spend a dime on you for anything. He won't want to
spend a dime on clothes for himself. He'll end us driving an old used
beater like irish mike. Also, if he was good enough to be a pro, he'd
be intelligent enough to realize he should keep a day job while also
being a pro. This would be a nice insurance policy, but obviously he
has a lot of gamble in him if he wants to just quit his job, so I'm
guessing he's pretty much doomed when it comes to being a pro. BTW,
have you looked at his poker records? If he isn't winning about 90%
of his sessions, he's no pro...and I mean 90%...I don't care what any
idiot here says about a smaller percentage,...those idiots have never
done this for a living. You need to win 90% of the time...which is
doable if you play the right games. Any thing less, and he's not
really making a good living at it and will also be subjecting himself
to swings that'll be hard for him to take mentally. >> Stay informed about: Dating a professional poker player |

Do you know what they call a professional poker player whose girl friend
loses her job? Homeless.
How do you get a professional poker player off your front porch? Pay him
for the pizza.
They estimate there are 70 million poker players in the U.S. 95% of them
are long term losers. Of the 5% that are winners, maybe 2% of them earn
enough to live on. Playing poker professionally is a job with no paid
vacation, no sick days, no retirement, no 401K, no commission, no draw and
no medical or health benefits of any kind. There will definitely be days
where you go to "work" for ten or twelve hours and come home with less money
than you started with. Hope that helps,
Irish Mike

This is pure genius. These idiots will eat this up, and at the end of the
day think they had a discussion about poker.
