I went in to Garden City the other day to get some food and chat with some
friends and ended up playing in the craziest 20/40 game I've ever seen.
Most pots were between 10-20 big bets. Every pot was at least 5-way
action with many 8 and 9-way pots. The preflop action was funny. It
either went one bet limp-limp-limp or it got capped. One guy at the table
was in for 6K. That's 12 racks in a 20/40 game. I got sucked into a big
pot with him when I was trapped in the middle holding A8s on a 456 board.
His UTG raise with 32o paid off big time when a K hit the turn making a
set of Ks for some other sorry sap. He almost gets into a fight with
another guy by drunkenly needling him. He goes out to smoke a cigarette
in the parking lot and the pissed off guy follows him outside presumably
to beat his ass. They both come back high on ganja.
Another guy at the table claimed he was killing the online game. I think
he was telling the truth because he proceeded to get so drunk he passed
out at the table. He obviously must be doing very well online. Before he
passes out, there's one hand where it's his turn to act. His chips are in
a pile in front of him and he starts to stack them. But there is
obviously something wrong with his motor control because he keeps knocking
down the stacks as he attempts to build them. I'm the first to notice
that his eyes are shut and so he probably doesn't know it's his turn to
act. Plus it's not that easy to stack chips with your eyes closed.
Of course, I win 3 racks in 3 hands and then lose 5 racks and go home.
Whle I'm brushing my teeth before bed, I spot someone on my buddy list in
the 30/60 6-max so I jump into the game and win back the 2 racks I lost in
the cardroom in about 30 minutes.
Live poker is such a waste of time but it's fun as hell.
