Since it was for play money no matter what you did he would have stayed in
most likely. Maybe if you raised on the flop representing the A or the 8
and then bet out on the turn he would have mucked but I doubt it.

Since it was play money I'm not going to speculate about how a different
betting strategy might have changed the hand. Just take a pretty useful
lesson out of it. A "Nut" flush draw is much less valuable when there is a
board pair. Simply because with a pair on the board a flush cannot be the
"nuts".
