I am taking my two kids 21 and 24 to Vegas for a few days and I am planning on
staying on the strip.
I have never stayed at the Luxor or the Trop. Can someone give me input on
these two places please?
Also any other good ideas of where to stay.
I dont want to stay at my normal hotels because I wont be doing much gambling
myself and I dont want to hurt my comp rating.
My normal places are TI, Mirage, Gold coast, Nugget. When I am in Vegas to play
any tournament I always stay at the gold coast because I like to be away from
the tournament crowd (a head thing) and I like it mellow.
I guess I am looking at places 21 and 24 years old would enjoy (1 guy and I
girl)
Also the time I am going is one of the high prices weeks which I hate but due to
their timelines it is the only time we can work it out.
All in all it is nuts as example the week we are going the MGM would be $1046
and the following week would only be $523.
Anyway any info would be great.

The Trop is pretty much a dump IMHO. Kids that age (which I used to be a
decade ago) love places like Madalay Bay, and some of the other more
expensive properties. The Hard Rock is a huge hit with that age group
too, but not really on the strip, and also a tad expensive.
Maybe I am weird, but I always loved Paris, mostly for its size and
location. Bally's isn't terrible either for the price. With those places
you are in a great location.
My two cents.

Try the prices at the Monte Carlo, it's a decent enough place. Don't
take the kids to the Trop unless you hate them. Luxor should be ok too.
Thumbs up to the Palms (already mentioned) but it means that your daughter
will be walking around the pool 98% naked like the rest of the girls.

If you are rated elsewhere, you may want to talk to a host about at
least coming in on casino rate. The kids may be easy to please, but I
would go with Luxor over the Trop. The trop has been on an on again
off again demolition watch for years. The Luxor rooms are OK, though
it has been years since I've stayed there. Tower rooms are/were
superior to Pyramid rooms, but Pyramid rooms had the odd attraction
of... well being housed in a freaking pyramid. It is a huge and
passable midrange hotel on the South end of the Strip. If you want
center Strip, Bally's would be a good midrange option, but none of the
wow factor of a themed hotel. Nice big rooms. Monte, Flamingo and
NYNY are other midrange options.

I was their age more than a decade ago...but I would still prefer Palms (off
the strip but worth it), Rio (off the strip but worth it), Mandalay (end of
strip, great crowd, great pool ) , Paris (mid strip connected to Ballys),
Ballys (mid strip, connected to Paris), Caesars (mid strip), even Flamingo.

I went to Vegas for the first time 1 year ago and stayed at The
Signature at MGM Grand. It was by far the nicest hotel i've ever
stayed in. True luxury...42 inch plasma TV, in room jacquizzi,
balcony, kitchenware and a kitchenette, 1/2 size fridge (bigger than a
small box one), and a few actual pieces of furniture - full sized desk/
table, 2 chairs, 3 small nightstands, and above all...that new room
smell.
The rooms are all non-smoking and the place has only been there for a
year and a half, it's pristine, friendly staff, free newspaper in the
morning (Usa today..but hey it's free) They also have a brand new
exercise room with free fresh fruit and water, a Starbucks, a very
nice pool area and hot tub (smallish...but you have access to all the
pools @ MGM which are pretty impressive). It's RIDICULOUSLY nice
like...i stayed there for 7 days and i still wasn't adjusted to how
nice everything was, i was finding more things i liked about the room.
It's a seperate hotel than the MGM but there's an air conditioned,
motorized walkway. It is about a 1/3 mile walk to the floor area of
the MGM casino, but it's well worth it. I sound like an infomercial, i
know...but this place promised big and delivered bigger. This memory
of this place is etched in my mind. Oh, and they pump subtle scents
into the place. I swear it smelled like a fresh grapefruit had just
been sliced somewhere in the hotel all the time. It was a little more
than staying at say...Monte Carlo or some place like that, but i saw
one of those rooms and it was just like a holiday inn...barely above
run of the mill.
I rarely rave about anything...stay at this place if you can.

My friend and I are both 25 and loved this place, it's top notch and
it's not choked with fanny pack clad folks or other forms of
undesireables. >> Stay informed about: Vegas hotel help please |
