Why aren't we all driving this $30,000 car?

http://www.myersmotors.com/index.html

It might be time to park the Tahoe in the garage for the Monday-Friday
commute.

The range is 45 miles. That won't even get me to work and back.

The problem with this whole electric/hybrid thing is that everything they
do ends up costing the same whether you use gas or not, they just fill the
void with up front cost.

30 grand is a bit steep for an electric tricycle. At less than 15
thousand it would start to get compelling for city dwellers. The
lynchpin is this though. Until the US is serious about producing vast
quantities of electricity via clean methods, electric cars simply shift
the carbon production from one dirty source to another. No net win
other than the pocketbook of the owner.

Just pick up a used caddy for 8K and dont sweat the price of the gas. You
already saved the money up front.

I just bought a bright yellow scooter. Get
4900000000000000000000000000 miles to the gallon. Named it Morphy.

You get great (like ZERO percent) financing on some the bigger SUVs too, and
buy them for much less than even 6 months ago.

That depends. If the Caddy dies after a year, and needs constant
replacement, and the scooter goes for 2 decades....

Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts and require far less service.

The Aptera is better, but isn't widely available yet.

If it does it much more efficiently, it's still a net plus.

Two reasons come to mind: It looks ridiculous and only goes 30 miles per
charge.

30 miles covers a lot of people's commute.
