You did not play the hand correctly. You raised over and over with a hand
that was no good. Few players will raise or re-raise in the later betting
rounds (turn and river) with a hand that doesn't significantly improve on
the board. Unless you've identified that your opponents are in this unusual
group, assume that their raises are meaningful. If you absolutely can't
bring yourself to fold your overpair, call, but certainly don't raise into
players who are clearly representing trips and a straight.

This may be more a matter of differing playing styles than right or wrong,
but I would've limped in with JJ. People overvalue medium pairs (I
consider JJ the best medium pair, but medium nonetheless). I usually limp
in with it, or call someone else's pre-flop raise (but fold if the
re-raise is way over the top in NLHE).

I'm still on a learning curve so I don't claim my method of play is any
better, or worse, but merely based on seeing JJ beat more often than not
by someone else's overcard(s) pairing on the board. Other thought on
pre-flop limping vs. raising with JJ: at best you will isolate the other
power hands and drive out the rags but I actually prefer all hands stay in
for large multi-way pots. If you flop a set you're usually in very good
shape to win a huge pot since no one will put you on JJ due to your limp.

Back to the hand in question, I would've eased up on the raising after the
turn, since it was fairly obvious you were beat at that point. You were
shooting blanks.

Anyone care to post thoughts on my JJ pre-flop strategy please feel free.
